Elliot Page, Oscar-Nominated 'Juno' Star, Announces He Is Transgender - The New York Times

elliot page In the interview, Page talked about himself asking his mother if he could ever be a kid. When he was 9 years of age, he allowed his hair to be cut short. He said it felt right.

But when he became a professional actor when he was 10, he was cast in the show “Pit Pony” as a daughter and wore the role wigs.

He anticipated that news of his transgender status would be met with both praise and love, but he also anticipated “a massive amount of hatred and transphobia,” as he stated in his Times cover interview.

“What I was anticipating was a lot of support and love, as well as a massive amount of hatred and transphobia,” Page, 34, said when Elliot made his Instagram announcement. “That’s pretty much what happened.”

He won supporters on social media and even had potential roles to play. However, Page said he is still working to understand who he is.

Page did not only announce that he had been transgender, but he also had other changes in his life during the coronavirus pandemic. Last summer, he broke up with his wife, Emma Portner. This year, the couple divorced.

He claimed that the pandemic made him consider his sexuality.

“I had a lot of time on my own to focus on things that I think I had been avoiding unconsciously in a lot of ways,” Page said. “I was finally able to embrace being transgender and let myself be fully who I am,” he said, after experiencing “shame and discomfort.”

Page married choreographer Emma Portner in the summer of last year, but the couple divorced earlier this year. According to the publication, Page’s sex struggles led to a pandemic of divorce, which was partly caused by his isolation.

He went with Elliot because it was a name he liked before he came out. In addition, he requested to be addressed as he or she. Page was also operated on to make his body more recognisable and comfortable when he looked in the mirror, claiming that the surgery was done for himself and not for others.

He hadn’t anticipated the magnitude of the storey’s impact: it made him one of the most well-known trans people in the world, sparked Twitter trends in more than 20 countries, and earned him more than 400k Instagram followers on the same day.

He recovered from his top surgery in Toronto after posting photos on Instagram. Page described the surgery as allowing him to recognise himself in the mirror for the first time.

“It completely changed the trajectory of my life.” Elliot page claimed that he had spent the majority of his life in his body, but that the return of that energy had revitalised him.
