Pakistan won 2-1, with Fakhar Zaman smashing 193 and 102 in the last 2 ODI series winning on South African soil since 2013.
“Muhammad Hafeez gave me the bat I used in the series,”Fakhar Zaman said on Thursday at a virtual press conference.
Hafeez has other Ideas
Hafeez, a former captain and the senior majority of the bat players on the side, felt discomfortable with Fakhar.
Named the series’ player, Zaman said that he was still unsure whether he would play in South Africa and Zimbabwe in the next T20 series.
The left opener was originally not named for the twin tours of the T20 squad, but also after his excellent 193 selectors on the T20 side.
It would be great if I could open up the T20I matches with Sharjeel against South Africa and Zimbabwe.”
He said Sharjeel, a left hander too, was a favoured player for his aggressive play style.
“I’d really feel good if I got the chance to bat alongside him. It makes it very easy to look cricket. So let’s see what’s going on,” he added.
Fakhar Zaman stated
Zaman has said that he will not bat down the order as Captain Babar Azam has been a regular cricket opener in T20 and opens in the Pakistan Super League with Sharjeel.
“I can play anywhere they’re asking me to bat on. In T20 cricket you now need to develop a way of thinking that can float in the order,” he added.
