A pair of Kanye West Nike Air Yeezy 1 sneakers for sale for $2 million at the Sotheby’s show in Hong Kong on April 16, 2021.
A pair of Nikes prototypes worn by Kanye West in his 2008 “Hey Mama” and “Stronger” performances at the Grammy Award broke a record for a couple of sneakers ever sold.
Sotheby’s announced Monday that Nike Air Yeezy 1 was attracted $1.8 million from the so-called “Grammy Worn” by West in private sales. It was purchased from RARES, a sneaker investment market. The sale marks the highest publicly recorded price for a sneaker sale and the first pair of sneakers to top $1 million. Sotheby’s brokered the private sale
Size 12 of the shoes designed by West and Mark Smith are made from soft, black and pierced leather and have a tonal Swoosh overlay. The design features the iconic Yeezy forefoot strap and “Y” lacelocks in a bright pink colour
