Nobody cares about Lord Anthony Bridg, so we bid farewell to Regé-Jean Page, who played the dukedom’s third Viscount so well, with “Godspeed.” We’ll miss Simon’s onscreen presence, but he’ll always be Bridgerton in our hearts. Daphne will continue to be supportive of her older brother as he goes through his dating phase and the aftermath of a romantic relationship with a beautiful woman.
Regé-Jean Page’s international fame put him in the running for the role of James Bond, as well as a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live. In the same ceremony last week, he was honoured by the NAACP and the Screen Actors Guild with an ensemble nomination.
When asked in January if the characters created by Regé-Jean Page and Dynevez would return for Season 2, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen responded, “Yes, I’m optimistic.” Bridgons will always be Bridgons, in my opinion.
It’s the combination of Jane Austen-meets-gossip plotlines with contemporary plot lines that have propelled viewers to Netflix’s records of enthusiasm. 82 million households around the world tuned in (or were at least aware of) the stream during its first four weeks of availability.
