Sunday, the 32-year old Seattle Seahawks sent his niece, Anna Wilson, some charity following winning the NCAA 2021 Championship as a part of the female basketball team at Stanford University. The Arizona Wildcats were beaten 54-53 by the team led by head coach Tara VanDerveer who has been their first winner since 1992.

Russell also honored his sister with an Instagram post that featured a picture of Anna holding her winner’s NCAA Championship trophy.

The All-American Point Guard of McDonald’s, Anna has always had close ties with the big brother of her quarterback. She spoke about her sibling bonds and how she cops with living in Russell’s “shadows” in an article on ESPN published in April 2020.
“I have grown much closer to Russell over the years, as I grew older,” she said. “And for me, it’s dissipated, like his shadow. As much as I’ve been in the past, I don’t feel I’m living there. Now I feel that I am much myself and that I am following my own path.”
When she was only 12, the star basketball player spoke of the loss of her dad, and how that affected her athleticism.

The championship game in 2021 will take place Monday night between Gonzaga and Baylor University in Lucas Oil Stadium, the men’s basketball tournament. The match starts at 9 p.m. ET.
