According to police, eight people were shot and killed, and several others were injured in an incident Thursday in the US city of Indianapolis.

According to police spokeswoman Genae Cook, officers discovered a “active shooter incident” at a Fedex facility near the city’s international airport and believe the gunman committed suicide.

Sgt. John Perrine, a public information officer for the Indiana State Police, advised relatives of Fedex employees to congregate at a nearby Holiday Inn.

Live video showed police tape at the scene of the shooting, which comes after a string of mass shootings in recent weeks.

Four people, including a child, were shot dead in a southern California office building at the end of last month.

Ten people were killed in a shooting at a grocery store in Boulder, Colorado on March 22.

This came less than a week after a man shot and killed eight people, including six Asian women, at Atlanta spas.
