In January 2020, Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others lost their NBA legend to a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. While the world tried to pay tribute to Kobe Bryant in any way possible, many privacy concerns were raised following their high-profile deaths. This included photos of the Kobe Bryant crash site shared by LA deputies, whom Vanessa Bryant recently identified publicly.
Vanessa was able to obtain the names of the four Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who took and shared graphic and unauthorised photos from the crash after a federal judge ruled earlier this month. According to additional reports, one officer took approximately 25 to 100 photos of the Kobe Bryant crash scene, which he later shared with other deputies. The images were later shown to civilians in a nearby bar.
The names of the deputies, as well as other details of her lawsuit against the LA County Sheriff’s and Fire Department, were posted on Vanessa Bryant’s Instagram account on Wednesday (Thursday IST). Vanessa had previously spoken with sheriff Alex Villanueva about her concerns about the Kobe Bryant crash site photographs, according to the case. Despite the assurances, between 25 and 100 photographs were taken. Some of the graphic photos of Kobe Bryant’s death appeared to be focused on the victims’ remains.
Kobe Bryant Photos Of The Death Crash Site: Vanessa Bryant Has Been Circulating In Photos
The photos of Kobe Bryant’s daughter were distributed to people who were not involved in the investigation. Vanessa had circled and highlighted the names Joey Cruz, Rafael Mejia, Michael Russell, and Raul Versales. Mejia appears to have kept the photos and shared them for “no reason other than morbid gossip” with the aforementioned individuals.
According to previous reports, photos of Kobe Bryant’s daughter were shared with patrons and the bartender at a sports bar in Norwalk, California. Russell also shared the photos with his family, according to reports. Someone at the bar, however, overheard the photos being described and reported them to the Sheriff’s Department. Russell is accused of saving the photos and sending them to friends at other stations who have nothing to do with the case.
Previously, the department had argued that the names should remain anonymous. If the public learns their names, hackers may attempt to assassinate the deputies (and maybe even look at some existing photos). Vanessa Bryant had written in her Instagram statement, “The Sheriff’s Department wants to redact the names of the deputies who took and/or shared photos of my husband, daughter, and other victims.” “Anyone else facing allegations would be named and exposed to the public, with no protection. These particular deputies, like everyone else, must be held responsible for their actions “.
