Are you curious about the relationship between a burrito chain and a cryptocurrency? Stefan Thomas, the CEO of Coil, recently forgot the password to his cryptocurrency wallet.

The New York Times reported on January 1, 2021, that Thomas had forgotten the password to his iron key, a programme that forces the user to try 10 different combinations before offering an encrypted password recovery option. When the article was first published, the value of Thomas’ 7,002 bitcoins was estimated to be around $220 million.

The accounting industry’s common occurrence of forgotten passwords pales in comparison to cryptocurrency, where only the owner has access to the money. Unfortunately, Thomas was still able to access the remainder of his Bitcoin, but he was unable to locate the lost fortune. Thomas, reflecting on the previous experience’s sorrows, “Do you design your own shoes? We have banks because we do not want to handle everything that banks do. “

At Chipotle, at least, the losses are limited to burritos.
