Music and fashion have always had a rich history, and now the connection has become even more solid when Dolce & Gabbana and DJ Khaled announced a new men’s collaboration.
DJ Khaled, an American born to Palestinian parents who describes himself as a religious Muslim, is known for his persona and characteristic appearance that is larger than life. He has now joined forces with the Italian design duo to promote a unique collaboration that highlights maximalism in favour of the brilliantly designed shirts and tracksuits that the winner of the DJ, producer, and Grammy awards dubbed his “Miami Style.”
The collection launched on Monday, based on the designer’s love of laty pictures and finishes, is decorated with motifs and patterns that Dolce & Gabbana have revealed.
The collection is unusually two designs that are offered over tracksuits, T-shirts, shirts and hoodies, and even beach clothing. For those who want to dress on the couch, even velvet coats are stuck with the men’s initials.
One design features a lion’s face flashing across the chest, which is surrounded by flowers. While flowers form one of Dolce & Gabbana‘s house codes and appear throughout all collection, music fans recognise that as a node to Khaled’s album, Major Key in 2016, which saw him pose with a real lion, with thousands of flowers around him. Polka dots, another key part of the Dolce & Gabbana lexicon, are found around the flowers.
The other design is a bold combination of leaves and flowers, echoing the palms, flowers and bright colours of Miami, which the city of Khaled calls home. A bright pink floral print is on one side, now joined with a dark green print of palm fronds.
Dolce & Gabbana looked at the famous Wynwood art district in Miami, and its graffiti and murals, which are also full of typical Italian plants such as bougainvillaea, agave and bougainvillaea.
DJ Khaled said of the collaboration: “I’m looking forward to announcing this wonderful new collection I work with Dolce & Gabbana. I dreamed of working with Stefano and Domenico for a lifetime and this collection shows a fun blend of my classic Miami style and Dolce & Gabbana high fashion. “

Khaled is also the multi-talented President of the Def Jam South record label, as well as the CEO and founder of We The Best Foundation, a Non-Profit organisation. In honour of the foundation’s work, We The Best is written on the cuff of one of the collection’s sleeves.
Designers Dolce and Gabbana explained in a press release about the collaboration why they decided to join the collaboration.

Following a recent commitment to increasing the size of their clothes in order to increase their availability, Dolce & Gabbana will offer the latest collaboration to an Italian size of 60, XXL in US sizes.
