Weapons N’ Roses was turned off during the band’s featuring set at BottleRock Napa Valley on Saturday, Sept. 4, by celebration advertisers for breaking the severe 10 p.m. time limit at the Napa Valley Expo. The move started an influx of boos from the group as the rockers attempted to finish their 1987 hit “Heaven City.”
But that didn’t thoroughly kill the night’s energy.
Fans started belting out the last couple of bars, helping frontman Axl Rose with the tune’s last line: “Goodness, will not you if it’s not too much trouble, take me home!” Then, at that point Rose lost his mike stage, soaked up the adulation and wandered off with the remainder of the band dragging along, including Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, who had joined the band on guitar for its reprise.
