Angelina Jolie arrived at the Eternals red carpet premiere in style, and she did so with her children in tow. Jolie told ET’s Nischelle Turner how the entire family went vintage in some looks straight out of their famous mother’s closet.”My kids are all dressed in vintage and my old Oscars gown. We did everything vintage and upcycled from my old stuff “Jolie said of her and her children’s appearance on Monday night’s red carpet. Jolie wore an olive green strapless floor-length gown with a string of bracelets, simple earrings, and a silver lip cuff. Her matching pointed-toe heels were visible peeking out from beneath her gown.
Maddox, 20, went all-black in a blazer and pants ensemble, while Vivienne, 13, went all-white in a tee-length dress and matching cardigan. Zahara, 16, wore the same silver gown Jolie wore to the 2014 Academy Awards, while Shiloh, 15, wore a tan, asymmetric gown and Knox, 13, wore a dark green blazer, skirt, and pants.
While her children were present for the film’s premiere, Jolie revealed that they weren’t thrilled with the gold, spandex suit she wore in the film.”Would you want to see your mother dressed like that?” Jolie inquired. “I’m not sure, they haven’t seen the movie, but when your mother walks in wearing a gold spandex outfit and sporting gold hair, they ask, ‘What do you do for a living?’ What exactly are you?
Put on your robe again.'”Along with co-star Salma Hayek, Jolie was very much the “mom” on and off-set, and a kind of family was created amongst the Eternals cast, ushered in by their Oscar-winning director, Chloé Zhao.”It was certainly something that when Chloé [Zhao] says, ‘I want it to be a love letter to earth, I want it to be this kind of family for these reasons,’ she’s somebody you can trust isn’t saying that ’cause it sounds right as a director, you know that she will live and breathe it and she will deliver on it,” Jolie said of the film’s motivation. “And then, when they told me what the intention was, what the family was, I felt like it had taken a long time.”
That sentiment was echoed in Elle magazine’s 2021 Women in Hollywood issue, with Jolie discussing the important bond she and her female co-stars developed on the set of the Marvel film.”As an actress, you’re often that individual strong woman, or you have one sister; you don’t often have this family where you really get to know women and see all of their different strengths,” she explained.
“Gemma’s grace and elegance, as well as the way she walks through life. Lauren’s connection and intelligence, as well as Salma’s motherhood and power. Everyone came dressed as themselves. Maybe there’s something to the fact that the characters weren’t so far removed from us.
I believe there is a secret that we don’t know that our director is aware of, because if you look at her films, you’ll notice that she casts a lot of real people in their roles, which shapes her films.”
