Tiwa Savage has stated that she has no intention of caving in to her blackmailer, who is allegedly threatening to leak some intimate footage she shot with her current boyfriend. The award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter, 41, made an appearance on New York radio station Power 105.1 on Friday, stating unequivocally that she will not pay her blackmailer for doing something “natural.”
“I’m not going to call it a sex tape, but it’s a tape between me and the person I’m currently dating,” the Afrobeats star told CNN host Angie Martinez. “I’m not going to be blackmailed by someone for doing something natural.”The footage was obtained by the unnamed blackmailer after her boyfriend accidentally shared it on Snapchat, according to the singer. He quickly deleted it after realising his error, but not before a third party obtained a copy.Savage revealed that she cried when her road manager, who was sent the video, informed her about the leak on Thursday.According to Martinez, the singer decided to go public about the blackmail so she could control the narrative “I’m that insane that I could put it out myself… You’re not getting paid for this.
“The artist considers sex tape blackmail to be one of the drawbacks of celebrity, stating, “There is a dark side to being in the limelight.”She also explained why she refuses to comply with her blackmailer’s demands.”I pay it now, and you’re going to come back in two months, and then in two years,” she added, as reported by the New York Post. “And who knows what else? Even if I do send you the money, you will almost certainly release it.
“Savage claimed that her partner was “going insane” over the leak. She was also concerned that it would have a negative impact on her career and that it would have a negative impact on her 6-year-old son when he was older.”I don’t want this to overshadow what I’m doing,” she explained. In 2006, the Nigerian sensation appeared on “The X Factor” in the United Kingdom. Before becoming a solo artist, she worked as a backup singer for a number of artists, including Mary J. Blige and George Michael.
