Britney Spears

Britney Spears is attempting to clear the air. On Monday, the singer posted a now-deleted Instagram message claiming that much of what was said in a new documentary about her conservatorship was false.“It’s insane, guys… I saw a little bit of the last documentary, and I’m sorry to tell you that a lot of what you heard is not true!!! “I try very hard to distance myself from the drama,” she began.

While Spears did not specify which documentary about herself she watched, she is most likely referring to the New York Times Presents franchise’s Framing Britney Spears follow-up Controlling Britney Spears, which premiered on FX and Hulu last Friday (September 24). Controlling Britney Spears includes new allegations from insiders who have firsthand knowledge of the star’s daily life while she is under conservatorship.

Spears listed three issues with the documentary in her post: “Number one… that was in the past!!! Number two… can the dialogue get any more refined… Number three… wow, they used the most stunning footage of me ever!!! What can I say… the EFFORT they put in.”After the film Framing Britney Spears was released in February, the “Toxic” singer called it out.“I didn’t watch the documentary, but from what I saw of it, I was embarrassed by the light they shone on me,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I cried for two weeks, and I still cry now and then!!!!”Spears’ latest statement came just a day before the premiere of Netflix’s own documentary, Britney vs. Spears.

The next hearing in her conservatorship case is scheduled for September 29. The singer’s request to remove her father, Jamie Spears, from the conservatorship, as well as her father’s petition to terminate the conservatorship, are expected to be heard by the judge.
