Ryan Getzlaf Of The Ducks Has Been Ruled Out Of Saturday’s Game Against The Kings Due To A Lower-Body Injury.

The Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf suffered an unspecified lower-body injury during Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center, according to the team. Midway through the first period, Getzlaf appeared to injure his left leg while battling Kings forward Alex Iafallo near the side boards.Later, the 36-year-old centre hobbled to the Ducks’ locker room and was ruled unable to return.

The veteran centre, who has been with Anaheim since 2006, has a team-high 19 assists and one goal in 23 games this season for a total of 20 points. The 19 assists are good for sixth in the league. With his 989th career point last month, Getzlaf surpassed Teemu Selanne as Anaheim’s all-time leading scorer.

Getzlaf became the 92nd player in NHL history and the seventh active player to reach 1,000 career points on Nov. 16 when he assisted on Cam Fowler’s first-period goal in the Ducks’ 3-2 overtime win over Washington. Anaheim came into the game with an 11-8-3 record, while the Kings had a 9-8-3 record.
