Midway through the first period, Getzlaf appeared to injure his left leg while battling Kings forward Alex Iafallo near the side boards.Later, the 36-year-old centre hobbled to the Ducks’ locker room and was ruled unable to return.

Getzlaf became the 92nd player in NHL history and the seventh active player to reach 1,000 career points on Nov. 16 when he assisted on Cam Fowler’s first-period goal in the Ducks’ 3-2 overtime win over Washington. Anaheim came into the game with an 11-8-3 record, while the Kings had a 9-8-3 record.
