Big Mouth’s universe is expanding with the upcoming spinoff series Human Resources, but the original show isn’t going away. Netflix renewed Big Mouth through Season 6 in 2019 as part of a multi-year deal signed by Big Mouth creators Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett under their production company Brutus Pink.
As part of the agreement, Brutus Pink will create additional “adult, funny, and emotional” animated shows and films for Netflix over the next few years. This also implies that Big Mouth has a bright future ahead of it. “Because [Big Mouth] is about change, it doesn’t feel like we’re always telling people the same jokes.” “Our characters can learn and actually evolve,” Kroll said in a late 2020 interview with Esquire.
“Going for it and not trying to play it safe has been part of the recipe for our success.” We’ve discovered that the crazier the jokes, the more we’re allowed to have bigger emotional moments — and the more [of those] bigger emotional moments, the more we’re allowed to make really insane, huge, hard jokes.
