Predator: Killer of Killers Review — A Bloody, Brainy Brawl That Finally Makes Predator Cool Again

Forget franchise fatigue. Hulu’s new animated carnage-fest, Predator: Killer of Killers, lands like a spinning axe to the chest — brutally fun, unapologetically nerdy, and far sharper than it first appears.

What Happens When a Predator Hunts Across History

Co-directed by Prey’s Dan Trachtenberg and Micho Robert Rutare, Killer of Killers doesn’t waste time explaining lore or tiptoeing around canon. Instead, it serves up what fans secretly crave: straight-up combat spectacles with the galaxy’s most ruthless hunter dropping in on different eras to test his claws. Vikings, samurai, WWII pilots — it’s basically Assassin’s Creed on steroids, dipped in a heavy dose of animated gore.

Each of the four chapters plays like a short film, complete with distinct animation vibes and thematic beats. The first pits a Viking shieldmaiden (voiced ferociously by Lindsay LaVanchy) against a cloaked Yautja — and it’s less a fight than a philosophy debate soaked in blood. From there, the showtime continues with ninjas flipping across Edo-era rooftops and a Top Gun-esque air battle against a Predator jet. Subtle? Not even a little. Entertaining? You bet.

Why Fans Are Talking

This isn’t just violence for violence’s sake — well, mostly. The animation leans heavily into graphic novel aesthetics, skipping the usual plasticky look of CG to craft a world that feels deliberately pulpy. Think Ninja Scroll meets Love, Death & Robots, but with more backbone.

And the internet’s eating it up. X users are already hailing it as “the Predator sequel we didn’t know we needed” and praising how the anthology format lets each story breathe without franchise baggage. The final act, which ties all the warriors together in a cosmic showdown, could’ve slipped into camp, but somehow lands — thanks to sharp pacing and a finale that saves its only real callback to the OG films for the end credits. Classy.

Verdict: A Streaming Surprise Worth Your Blood

At just 80 minutes, Predator: Killer of Killers isn’t trying to be a box-office behemoth. It’s lean, slick, and knows exactly what it’s doing. And that’s kind of the point. In a world of bloated reboots and forgettable spin-offs, this one goes full tilt — and sticks the landing with a spear.

Grade: B+
Now streaming on Hulu (June 6) — watch it before the Predator hunts something else.
